Snowdance
By Erin Lee & Marci
Snowdance is a "calendar" collection of twelve original songs (one for each month of the year).
Songs that tell a story for each month of the year from a child's point of view. Splash in springtime puddles, the first day of school, snowy days, cranky neighbors.
An honest and sometimes comical appraisal of the world through yourthful eyes.

*Calendar
Name Tags-Around The Calendar
Need: Name Tags
Post every child's name around the calendar. Use
construction paper and coordinate the shape of the name tag with the
Theme for that week..such as an apple tag during apple week, a leaf
tag during the Autumn week, etc...
I use poster clay to hang them around the
calendar, so they can easily be moved so the kids don't memorize the
order in which they are hung, instead of learning to recognize the
letters. When we have circle time in the morning we do the
date...counting the days to the date we are at....then we do the
weather, etc, etc....... After that I point to a child's name...when
they recognize their name, they raise their hands...if they are too
young to recognize it, the older ones help. It doesn't take long for
even the youngest ones to start recognizing the letters in their own name. Contributed By: Kelly Schneider
Jan Brett's Birthday Calendars
4 seasonal calendars to print and record birthdays and special occasions on.
Calendar Friend
Enlist the help of a puppet to jazz up your calendar and weather
time. You can use one puppet or have many different puppets. One
puppet to ask about the year, and another puppet to ask the date, the
month, and the day of the week. When the children become familiar
with the routine, have different children volunteers role-play with
the puppets during calendar and weather time.

Contributed By: Melissa A New Month
When a new month starts make a
change on the calendar so that the children do notice the changes.
Place up new shapes or colors for the dates. Children do notice the changes.
Place up new shapes or colors for the dates.
Copy the pages from the book
"Chicken Soup With Rice" and each month place up a new
rhyme for the children to learn. Each month's rhyme ends with the
phase "Chicken Soup With Rice." Have children bring in cans
of chicken soup with rice for a special lunch.
